We are staying at an adorable hotel in the heart of St. Germain des Pres, and it's a little hidden gem nestled in the back of a courtyard. Our street is complete with cafe's, tea rooms, antique stores as well as Dior, Louie Vuitton and the famous Laduree Chocolatier and Macaron maker half a block or less away. The Left Bank of Paris has turned out to be very convenient as all is in close proximity. Our room has a view of the courtyard, and it's decorated in period pieces with vibrant colors and textured wall paper. However, it is very small. Very small indeed.

We set out for our first destination, Notre Dame, but we must first eat and decide to stop at the world famous Les Deux Magots. This cafe is full of locals and it's very amusing to observe. Although we were prepared for the arrogance that the Parisians are known for, we are greeted by a friendly server who was prepared to take our order immediately. We enjoy our first Quiche Lorraine, hot chocolate and cafe under their cute green umbrellas.

We watch the hustle and bustle around us as we are sitting outdoors on at a highly traveled intersection.
I'm immediately surprised to see how many locals travel by bike in their suits, dresses and yes, even in high heels!
